What's your dream? Part I

(Genesis 37:9 MKJV) And he dreamed still another dream, and told it to his brothers. And he said, Behold, I have dreamed another dream. And behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me.

Recognize your dream given to you by God. First the dream is going to come from inside you, it will be uniquely yours and it will come out of something God has already blessed you with. So don’t look to others for your dream but remember what it was you dreamed of as a child, before the world told you it couldn’t be done. Secondly, this dream will always align with God’s Word. If your dream is to be rich for the sake of having stuff try again. This dream will be full of purpose and remember it will come in the form of an answer. Think of it this way “your dream” is a puzzle piece to God’s big plan for humanity and God’s top priority is that all will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ His Son. Your gift is unique and you hold just what someone needs in order for them to come closer to God. Some are missionaries, some are teachers, while some are business owners but all bring glory to God. Thirdly, your dream is bigger than you! It will require others coming on board and you inspiring them and empowering them as you go. As you lead you will find you must first take the stand and then you will find this dream is contagious, spreading to the hearts of your constituents. If this is not the case and your dream only concerns you then there is still more and you need to seek God for the rest of it because when you come alive you won’t be able to help but impact others!

Today the discussion is about keeping the dream alive once you’ve discovered it. It will be tested in many ways once you finally make up your mind to leave the familiar behind. The first opposition will come from an unlikely place – your friends! Your friends, for the most part, though well meaning are use to seeing you and think they have you figured out but they don’t know the dream God has placed inside of you. People don’t like change because it requires work and causes discomfort and most will fight to not change but God usually places at least one person in your life that has pursued the dream for themselves and though he or she may not know your dream they do know what it is like to pursue it. Right now it is most important that you hold onto your dream otherwise you will spend the rest of your life wondering what could have happened. Even Jesus experienced this opposition… (Matthew 13:57 NLT) And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in Him. Then Jesus told them, "A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family."

Lastly, there will be those who deliberately will set themselves against you, many times because it makes them look bad for not pursuing their own dream. Instead of going for it they allowed fear to tie them down and they will use the same to try and keep you where you are. The Bible is very clear on this… (Matthew 7:6 MKJV) Do not give that which is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and tear you.

Join me tomorrow and let’s see where this journey takes us.
