Living a sanctified life

(1 Thessalonians 4:3 MKJV) “For this is the will of God, your sanctification, for you to abstain from fornication,”

Webster’s definition of sanctified is to set apart to a sacred purpose, to set free from sin, to impart or impute sacredness, to make a productive of holiness.

Being sanctified points to our becoming more like Jesus, it’s not about being saved; it’s about us as vessels being molded, prepared, and set apart by the Master for His purpose. Just as some vessels in a mansion are made for honor and some for ordinary use, those for honor are cleaned and prepared regularly for the Master’s use. This is not about destiny, some being ordinary and some of honor but instead about those who lay down their will to please self and choose instead to please God. As each one spends more time with Christ he/she should be able to point to areas in their life that are changing to be more like Him. Think about it does my life today look like my life when I was saved years ago? What about just a year ago? What about yesterday? I remember once speaking with an older Christian about the “Wild at Heart” book by John Eldredge though his life was filled with physical adventure his spiritual one never really got started. Do I believe he is saved? Yes but not sanctified. What stands in the way of you starting this spiritual journey today?
